In 1953, Charlie A. Doyle was deported from the USA, charged with posing a threat to the security of the United States Government.
He settled in London and became a Shop Steward for the Electrical Trades Union at Battersea Power Station. During a Work-to-Rule dispute over wages he was branded 'The Most Hated Man in Britain' by the Daily Mirror newspaper.
Edited and published here for the first time by his nephew, Jim McCluskey, “The Hammer and Thistle – the Making of a Rebel” is Charlie's story, told in his own words.
